When it is played

The Swimming competition is conducted in Term 1 on Wednesday afternoons, with schools hosting meets in a home-and-away format.

Eligibility and Structure:

  • Age groups: U14, U15, U16, Open (based on age as of January 1st, 2023)
    Maximum 6 events per swimmer
    Swimmers can compete in one event per stroke
    Can swim up an age bracket, but not down
    Minimum 16 swimmers per school recommended

Event Categories:

  • Individual Races: Freestyle (50m), Breaststroke (50m), Backstroke (50m), Butterfly (50m), Separate A and B races for some age groups
  • Relay Races: Freestyle Relays (4 x 25m), Medley Relays (4 x 25m), Combined Freestyle Relay (12 x 25m)
  • Scoring: Individual races: 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 points
    Relay races: 16, 12, 8, 4 points
    Dead heats receive full points

Venues:
Six pools across Adelaide schools, ranging from 6 to 9 lanes
